AMTRAK LOCOMOTIVE 196
Here is road number 196 from the 2000/2001 Amtrak Genesis order from the GE Transportation Division at Erie, Pennsylvania. All of the 190-199 group were originally delivered in 3G low skirt millenium paint. Builder stickers also in the high position (but moved back to standard in subsequent overhauls). Steel noses were changed to the bolt-on variety over the intervening years. None of the 190's had received the new 4G paint until #196 became the first of the group in October 202.
Build dates for the 190's are September and October of 2001. Serial numbers are in sequential order with the road number. Engine #197 carried a Big Game decal for a term, and was subsequently stored at Beech Grove after a road crossing incident on the Heartland Flyer in Oklahoma.

At least three of this group were out of service March-May 2023. A fourth one, #192, returned to Chicago in mid-May 2023 in fresh 3G paint after a stay at Beech Grove Indiana. Not all movements are necessarily captured and there can be errors in the reports we do have. The train assignment date(s) are given except for east coast, which dates are only when a diesel was in the consist, typically north or south of the NEC end points.
